My classes approach pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding as a normal, healthy part of a woman's life. My experience and training has led me to understand that each family needs to be prepared for the physical and emotional challenges of labor, birth, and postpartum. I also know that regardless of a woman's prior plan for pharmaceutical pain management, she needs to be prepared for the physical and emotional sensations of labor and knowledgeable concerning comfort measures to reduce the discomforts. All families benefit from the practice of relaxation, breath awareness, and comfort techniques. These are great skills for parenting a newborn.

The miracle of birth is that it works perfectly time and time again. Yet, occasionally surprises occur and we need to take each moment as it comes. We need to respond the best way we know to each challenge faced. In my classes we explore the variations of birth and the medical assistance available to women and babies. Making choices is one of the hardest parts of parenting. Pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum are filled with choices. I believe knowledge is a foundation that strengthens our ability to cope, understand and take action around life lessons. My goal is that each family leaves my class having educated themselves, thereby gaining the power to make informed choices for our next generation.
